KTM Faculty - 2008-2009

Kollel Torah Mitzion has a core faculty of graduates from Hesder Yeshivot in Israel who come here to serve as teachers and role models in our community. The core of the Kollel is the Beit Midrash which features a full schedule of classes as well as a drop-in center with a warm atmosphere where all, regardless of background, feel comfortable.

Rav Nadav Levin, Rosh Kollel

I was born in Israel, in the city of Bnei Brak.  I learned at Kiryat Herzog High School and I was a madrich for Beni Akiva for 2 years.  I then learned in the Hesder Yeshiva of Maalot and I served in a Tank Unit in the army.  After I got married, I was an avreich at Yeshivat Hakotel for the last 8 years.  I revceived my B.Ed. and I passed my Rabbinical exams for the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.  I taught in Ulpanat Neve Chanaand I was a madrich for shana aleph bachurim at Yeshivat Hakotel.

 

 

I am a father of 3 amazing girls and, BS”D, of another on the way…  The last number of years we lived in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Yerushalayim and now we are here excited and looking forward to meet you, to get to know you and to learn together.

Dorit Levin

I was born in Israel, in the city of Bnei Brak.  I studied in Ulpanat Bnei Brak and I was a madricha of Beni Akiva for 2 years.  I did Sheirut Leumi in Ofakim, after which I studied graphic design in Michlelet Emunah in Yerushalayim.  I worked several years for different advertizing companies and for Binyan Shalem – a family counselling organization.

Eddie Shostak, Executive Director

 

Eddie Shostak, 30,  received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from McGill University, he studied at Yeshivat Ohr Somayach of Montreal, Yeshivat Noam HaTorah in Montreal, and is currently studying towards Rabbinic ordination.  He was student President of McGill Hillel and Montreal Hillel.  He has been involved in Jewish education both through informal educational programs and formal teaching.  Eddie also serves as Administrator for the Rabbinical Council of America—Montreal Region Conversion Beit Din.  Eddie and his wife, Ahuva, have one child, Talia Ashira.

Rav Ido & Shira Tauber, Avreich Family
Rav Tauber, 29, is a graduate from Yeshivat Netiv Meir.  He studied at Yeshivat Hesder Birkat Moshe in Ma’aleh Adumim for 7 years.  He studied towards a Teacher’s Diploma in Lifshitz College, in partnership with Yeshivat Hesder Birkat Moshe and towards a B.Ed Degree in Moreshet Yaakov College, in partnership with Yeshivat Hesder Birkat Moshe.  In the army, Rav Tauber completed a Paratrooper course followed by NCO course and he commanded a “Nachal Hareidi” troop. 

Shira Tauber, 29 is a graduate of Midreshet Amaliah in Jerusalem. She then joined a "garin" of girls, who studied in Midreshet Ein Hanatziv in kibbutz Ein Hanatziv. Shira was a commander in the IDF and taught English and History to soldiers. She then studied Special and regular education in David Yellin Teachers Seminary, and worked as a tour guide for the Western Wall Tunnels. The Taubers have 3 children, Ayala, 3, Dov, 1 and Ariel, 6 months.  This is the Taubers third year in Montreal.

 

Oriel David, Bachur

My name is Oriel David, I am 22 years old and I live in Givat Shmuel (near Tel Aviv).  I studied in the Hesder program of Yeshivat HaKotel in Jerusalem.In the army, I served in the Border Police unit.  After my shlichut, I am thinking of studying design or education in university, but I am not 100% sure yet.  My hobbies include: rappelling, hiking around the country and graphic design.

Moshe Mendelson, Bachur

My name is Moshe Mendelson, I am 22 years old and I live in Metar, a small northern Negev villa town with about 2000 families.  I studied in the Hesder program of Yeshivat HaKotel in Jerusalem. In the army, I served in the combat engineering forces.  I likel earning all kinds of things, including: politics, history, the environment, and of course, Torah.  I like to travel, play tennis and to spend time with family, especially my nephews 

Tzvi Schayek, Bachur

My name is Tzvi Meir Schayek, I am 24 years old, I grew up in the northern city of Afula. At the age of 13, my family left Afula and moved to Elad, which is near Tel Aviv. I studied in the Hesder program of Yeshivat HaKotel in Jerusalem. In the army, I served as a medic in a combat unit in Hebron. Last summer I went on a one-month mission to Odessa, Ukraine, on behalf of the Jewish Agency. I hope to return from my shlichut in Montreal to study Economics and Political Science at Ariel University. In my free time I love traveling, reading, and listening to music.
