THE KOLLEL IN ACTION


 

Community Beit Midrash  - Every night the Kollel offers study groups, chavrutot and lectures at all levels from beginners to advanced.Classes include: Talmud (beginner, intermediate, advanced and Daf Yomi), weekly Parasha, Tanach, Jewish Philosophy, Jewish Law, Judaism 101, Beginners Hebrew Classes, and more.

Women's Beit Midrash - The Women's Beit Midrash of the Kollel offers weekly classes for women of all ages and special lecture series, as well as chavrutot (partner learning). The WBM also runs a Tehillim Group which completes the entire book of Tehillim twice a week. KTM recognizes the generous sponsorship of the World Zionist Organization.

 

Classes around the city - The KTM staff regularly give classes and lectures around the city including local synagogues, Federation CJA, ALEPH on all topics.


Publication of KTM Daf Parasha - A weekly Torah newsletter with insights on the weekly Torah portion and on Jewish Law – distributed throughout the city at schools, synagogues and community centres.

Bekiut Club - After school learning groups for both Elementary and High School. Students study various Torah texts, including Halacha, Mishna, Gemara and Jewish thought.  Each study group is geared to the specific level of the students.

 

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Club - Learning the meaning of becoming Bar/Bat-Mitzvah, students learn various Halachic texts and books on Jewish Philosophy. Participants partake in special chesed projects.


High School Programming - KTM runs informal educational programs including: Shabbatons, Holiday information sessions, classes on various Jewish topics, Spring break program, monthly Youth Minyan and more, for Hebrew Academy, as well as other high schools in Montreal.  The KTM staff runs creative programs and activities for students at all levels. Shabbatons take place in Montreal and out of town.

 

Parent-Child Learning Program - During the winter months, every Motzei Shabbat, all children in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and their parents are invited for a Parent-Child Learning Program led by the KTM staff. The program features learning and activities, food and prizes.

 

University Students – KTM provides an open and warm atmosphere for local CEGEP and University students to explore their Jewish identity and grow spiritually through Torah classes, Shabbat/Holiday programming and more.

Guest Lectures – Nearly every month, the Kollel hosts various dynamic guest lecturers from Israel and the Diaspora.

 

Shabbat Programs – Shabbat meals, tisches, beginner's services, Seudat Shlishit, Melaveh Malka.


Holiday Programming -  Succot - Simchat Beit Hashoeva Celebration, Hanukkah Party, Tu B'Shvat Seder, Purim Seudah, Yom Hazikaron Ceremony, Yom Ha'Atzmaut Celebration, Lag Ba'Omer Bonfire, Yom Yerushalayim Celebration, Shavuot Community All Night Learning Program, Tisha B'Av Services with explanatory Kinnot, and more.

 

Joint Programming - KTM runs a variety of programs in conjunction with Bnei Akiva, Mibereishit, Hebrew Academy, community synagogues and organizations.
