There is a beautiful Jewish custom cited in the Shulchan Aruch to decorate our homes and synagogues with flowers to remember the giving of the Torah on Sinai and the miracle of the desert mountain blooming on Shavuot.

In our lifetime we too have been privileged to witness the desert bloom with the rebirth of Jewish life in Israel, our homeland and our dreamland.

This year has been a painful one. It has been a year where every Shabbat has been dampened, celebration saddened, and every day has been slightly heavier than it would have otherwise been as the plight of our brothers and sisters in Israel, our Chayalim and the hostages have been constantly playing on our minds.

This year on Shavuot, we invite you to participate together with each other in our Montreal community to add an extra meaning to your Shavuot flowers by buying a special bouquet (yellow, blue, & white), with a portion of the proceeds going in support of the Hostages and Missing People Forum.

We continue to pray fervently for the return of our hostages, the safe and peaceful return of our Chayalim and Chayalot, and dream of the day where we can live together in peace.

עושה שלום במרומיו הוא יעשה שלום עלינו ועל כל ישראל ואמרו אמן
