Rabbi Zvi Kogan, 28, an Israeli-Moldovan citizen residing in the United Arab Emirates and serving as an envoy of the Chabad organization to that country was taken captive and killed in the UAE by terrorists on Thursday, 21 November, 2024. A search was initiated by UAE authorities after he was reported missing by his family. His body was found three days later, on Sunday, 24 November, and flown to Israel for burial.
UAE authorities have arrested three citizens of Uzbekistan in connection with the murder.
In a funeral ceremony attended by thousands of mourners, Zvi was laid to rest in the Mount of Olives cemetery in Jerusalem on Monday evening (25 November). He is survived by his wife, parents and siblings.
