Ohad was kidnapped while injured from his home in Nir Oz. Eitan, his son, was also kidnapped but separately from him. The terrorists managed to break down the doors of the hospital where the Yahami family was staying. They shot Ohad, who stayed at home, and from that moment, they lost contact with him. The terrorists kidnapped Ohad's wife, Bat Sheva, along with her two daughters on one motorcycle and Eitan on another. In a split-second decision, Bat Sheva managed to jump off the motorcycle while holding her little daughters and did not stop running until she reached a safe place. Eitan was left alone. Ohad was an employee of the Nature and Parks Authority, an iron man, an athlete, a lover of trips and nature, and a devoted family man. Eitan was released on 11/27/23.

Ohad was murdered while in Hamas captivity, and his body was returned to Israel as part of the Hostage-Ceasefire deal in February 2025.
