Shlomo was kidnapped on October 7. He and his wife, Mazal, were in the mamad when terrorists fired a volley at the door and broke in. Mazal hid in the bathroom while the terrorists found Shlomo, handcuffed him, and took him out of the house.
Shlomo, a survivor of the Farhud riots in Iraq, was married to Mazal for 60 years and was a grandfather to 13 grandchildren. A master carpenter, he spent recent years volunteering with Mazal in the army, repairing and updating inscriptions on tombstones in the cemetery. Those who loved him described him as a man with a big heart, golden hands, and a man of action. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother to five siblings, with many friends in the kibbutz. "It is impossible to even imagine how an 85-year-old man endured the hell that was forced upon him against his will after a lifetime of resilience."
Shlomo was murdered while in Hamas captivity, and his body was returned to Israel as part of the Hostage-Ceasefire deal in February 2025.

In case of discrepancy between the Hebrew and the English, the Hebrew should take precedence.
